Abstract

Raja Ram Mohan Roy (1772-1833) was a great leader and reformer of the Indian Renaissance, known as the "Father of the Indian Renaissance". He was born in Radhanagar, Bengal and studied Sanskrit, Persian, and Arabic languages. He fought against the practice of Sati, casteism, and for women's rights. By founding the Brahmo Samaj, he took important steps towards religious and social reforms. He was an advocate of education, health services, and social equality. His contributions promoted women's education and took steps towards social justice in Indian society. He also worked with the British government to protect the rights of Indians. He died in England in 1833, but his influence is still present on Indian society.
