An Analysis of Teacher Training at the Higher Education Level in Bihar's Saran Division: Current Status, Challenges, and Future Directions
Main Article Content
Abstract
This research paper analyzes the current status, effectiveness, challenges, and prospects for improvement of teacher training at the higher education level in Bihar’s Saran Division (comprising Saran, Siwan, and Gopalganj districts). The study reveals that while some institutions have begun adopting Faculty Development Programs (FDPs), ICT-based teaching, and pedagogical innovations, the majority of colleges continue to struggle with a lack of resources, dependence on traditional teaching methods, and the absence of sustained training opportunities. Teacher training not only enhances subject-specific competence but also strengthens research orientation, technological proficiency, and student-centered teaching. In light of the National Education Policy 2020, the study suggests that quality training is the foundational pillar for ensuring the quality of higher education. Therefore, the need for continuous, technologically advanced, and contextually relevant training programs is of utmost importance.
