Abstract

The significant impact of artificial intelligence in the developed world has prompted this paper to address adopting artificial intelligence in business education for the efficient work skill development among Business education students in Nigeria. The paper made a deliberate attempt by taking into consideration the nuance of embodying Generative AI in business education programme while sailing through the challenges and prospects. With a special attention to theoretical frameworks, and practical perceptiveness, it offers a broad scope insight of AI's transformative prospect in business education. Academic knowledge contents alone are no longer adequate to get ready business education recipients or students for the competitive world of industry. With the fast rapid world-wide competitiveness, recipients of business education programme demand the exerting thrust for training or skills that are compelling and inspiring to succeed in the global stage. The research x-rayed the application of artificial intelligence for work skills or 21st century skills development for sustainable lifelong learning in business education programme. It further examines the prospects and challenges related with the adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into business educational programmes. This paper has thus made a modest attempt to clarify the concept of artificial intelligence, meaning of business education, work skills or 21st-century skills development, prospects in AI for business education and ultimately the challenges in implementing AI in Business education programme. The paper finally advocates AI for business education despite its numerous challenges in utilizing it in business education programme, draws conclusion and recommended among others that government should invest in the intensive training programs of business educators to deepen their level of digital literacy, data literacy, and insight of ethical considerations of AI adoption. This will enable them to effectively use AI tools and steered through its ethical challenges.
